Red Alert - Save the MurrayRiver Alert - Save the Murray
To assist an initiative of the Goolwa/Port Elliot Football Club local communities have been encouraged to take part in a "River Alert" awareness campaign. To raise awareness of the plight of the Murray, local communities have been invited to show support through participating in "Red Arm Band Day". The development of this day provides a vehicle for individuals to acknowledge and highlight that the river needs help.
South Australians are encouraged to show their support by purchasing a wrist band and wearing it on Friday July 31st and across the week end of Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd.
Local Schools, Local Associations, Local Clubs, Small to Medium sized business, Friends and Family are encouraged to show their support by going to the www.savethemurray.com.au web site and clicking on the "River Alert" logo to order your wrist bands. Schools will find useful information to assist educating students on the environmental challenges currently faced by the river system. Along with general articles for communities.
The wrist bands come in a donation box along with 50 wrist bands at a cost of $50 including delivery. The wrist Bands sell for $2 each which totals $100. Resulting in your School, Association, Club or Business a surplus of $50. Which you are encouraged to either donate to a Local Association or Club.( e.g. this can be used to upgrade facilities).
